Closing Brunch 201S GSC

Well it has been a long week however a good one.  We got a lot of work done for Alcoholics Anonymous.  We finished our work around 8pm last night.  It was nice to be able to go out and watch the craziness in Times Square.  I attended the closing Brunch where the outgoing each gave their farewell talk.  It was also bittersweet as it was the last GSC that our GSO manager will preside over. She is from Western WA and is the first female General Service Manager. She will retire in October and rumor has it, she may be moving into Area 92. After the brunch this morning, my husband and I walked all over NYC. I can’t wait to tell you about the conference this year. I have lots of pictures. Well the shuttle is picking us up at 4:30am so I guess I’d better get some sleep. Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity to represent area 92 at the GSC. In love and service, Dolores

Monday of Conference Week

This is going to be very short because I am very tired.  I began my day in a regular A.A. meeting from 7:30am – 8:30am.  Treatment/Special Needs-Accessibilities Conference Committee met from 9am – 12 noon followed by lunch.   This afternoon were GS Board Report-Q&A, A.A.W.S. Board Report and Q&A, Detailed Finance Report and Q&A, Panel 65 Area Highlights and sharing session.  Had quick PRAASA Delegate Advisory Board meeting and a quick meeting for Inventory Moderators and Recorders.  That pretty much covers my day.  Fred went to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island today.  Then he went to Bubba Gump Shrimp.  We are both blessed to be able to do what we are doing.  I am enjoying fellowship and service with my fellow delegates.  Thank you for allowing me to be of service.  Dolores

Opening Day of the GSC

By responding “present” this morning during roll call of the 65th Annual General Service Conference I officially became a member.  The Chair of the General Service Conference welcomed us.  The GSO Manager provided an Orientation of Conference Procedures.  The Conference Coordinator reviewed the week with us and then we were treated to two terrific presentations: 1) Report on the 23rd World Service Meeting held in Warsaw Poland presented by Bob, trusted-at-large/U.S. and 2) A.A Around the World presented by Rick, GSO staff who shared a miracle story of how A.A. began in Liberia.  More to come in my report back.  Following lunch there was presentation/discussion topics on “Our Common Welfare Through Gratitude in Action”.  Panels included:  Diversity in A.A, Our Heritage of Inclusion, Safety and Respect – Practicing the Principles Begins in Our Home Group, Safeguarding Our Traditions Through the Evolution of Technology and Inventory – Looking Back to Move Ahead.  This afternoon we will meet in our committees with the trustees committees who will report on their activities.  Since trustees serve on more than one committee and cannot be in two places at one time the meetings are staggered this afternoon only.  I am free for 2 hours and immediately following the trustees and conference committees meeting covering Treatment/Special Needs Accessibilities Committee will be the opening banquet.  Then back to Read the full article…

Conference Post 4.18.15

Dear Friends, I did not post last night as internet was not working well.  The conference has not yet begun but already I have had numerous spiritual experiences. Yesterday some of us went to the GSO Archives and then attended the Friday morning meeting at GSO.  Then we ate in the cafeteria downstairs in the same building.  We must have talked for 2 hrs then we all went different directions.  Fred and I returned to the hotel and then went out for a long walk.  Last night we went to the Musical Jersey Boys and then went out for a nice dinner.  This morning the Pacific Region Delegates and some others along with our Pacific Region Trustee met in the h0tel lobby at 8:15am and boarded a tour bus for a historical tour with a GSO Manager who is now 88 years old and doesn’t miss a beat.  He smokes the biggest cigars I have ever seen and there must be something the matter with me because they smelled really good!  He took us to Towns Hospital, 182 Clinton Street where Ebby visited Bill.  We also saw the home where Bill & Lois lived when he was riding high in the stock market.  We drove by Central Park, went past the Roosevelt Hotel where 35 Generals Services Conferences were held and Read the full article…

Greetings from New York City

Hi Friends, After getting up at 2am yesterday morning to catch the 6am flight out of Wenatchee we arrived in Newark NJ at 4:15pm.  There was  a major protest in Times Square yesterday over the minimum wage here.  They want Seattle’s minimum wage of $15.  While this is an outside issue it made for a 3 hour shuttle ride to the Crown Plaza.  After we had  some dinner and put our clothes away we went to bed.  This morning we didn’t get around until 10am and the took the subway to the 911 memorial and exhibit.  A sobering experience.  We were there for 3 hours, did some shopping and then went to dinner with Bruce D, thee delegate area 2 Alaska and his wife.  I am now back in our room to get a good nights sleep so I am rested when the conference begins.  Tomorrow several of us will meet up in the lobby to take the subway to GSO.  We will be attending the regular Friday morning A.A meeting at GSO.  I have to go now my husband just came back with ice cream and I don’t want it to melt.  Hugs to you all, Dolores
