Purpose

The main purpose of the Washington State East Area 92 Archives is to keep the record straight so that myth does not predominate over fact as to the local history of the fellowship. The Area Archives gives the Area the sense of its own past and an opportunity to study it. The Archives committee exists to provide a safe and secure facility for the receipt and storage of Archival material relevant to provide the past and present activities of Alcoholics Anonymous and its members within the Area, and the Washington State East Area. It actively displays historical material so that the maximum number of members of the fellowship may benefit. The Archives committee assists and acts as a resource for district and other local Archives activities.

How Can You Help?

The Archives Committee needs all types of volunteers. We need people to attend meetings and workdays at the repository, people to help spread the word about this type of service work, and people to help collect and organize the materials that are collecting in basements and back offices. It is okay if you have never been an archivist yourself! You can still help us. You can still help with the joy of collecting and displaying the treasures of the past. This type of service work does not require much time. Due to its nature, very often it can be done at your convenience, yet it is still a very rewarding type of service work. If you have more time and a desire to be more involved, there are always openings on the Archives Committee, the Archives Steering Committee and the Area Archivist position. Committee Structure

The committee consists of the Area Archivist, The Archives Steering Committee, districts and other AA Archivists. The Area Archivist and the Archives Steering Committee represent the interests of the local Archivists to the Area Committee and to the Assembly although only the Archivist is a member of the Area Committee.
