Delegates Report - January 2008

Fellow WSEA 92 Members,

Before writing another word I would like to take this time to honor and appreciate our most recent WSEA 92 Delegate Panel 56 Dave M. Dave brought a wonderful balance of love and compassion to his service to our Fellowship's Third Legacy. His service to the General Service Conference and our Area has set the standard for me to follow. Thank you Dave and thank you all past WSEA 92 Delegates.

Since our last meeting in Wenatchee at the October 2007 Election Assembly I have met with Dave twice for transition on 11/2 in Ritzville and 1/11-12 at Dave's house in Spokane. On 12/1 at the home of the WSEA 92 Alternate Chair in Wenatchee I was fortunate to participate in my forth Appointed Offer selection meeting on 12/1 at Joanne's. Unfortunately I as not able to personally meet with our Area's Alternate Delegate Mauro but we were able to several productive phone conversations in regard to delegate and Alt delegate activities. One which would include the implementation of the Fellowship New Vision (FNV) database which we are hoping will be an improvement over the DelArea program which has been problematic.

Immediately after the elections I received many emails from current and past delegates telling me "hold on to your rear your in for the ride of your life. By the beginning of November I had received a welcome letter from Doug R. the GSC coordinator which provided basic information about the upcoming GSC such as the dates (4/27 - 5/3) and theme (Communication and Participation - The Key to Unity and Self-Support) plus a free Service Manual. Also included were a couple of letters from Past Delegates letting me know that it was time to hurry up and get busy. The first week of this month I received the "Communications Kit" which contains most of what I will need for the conference except the final Agenda Items that I should have by the 15th of February. Following the arrival of the CK my conference committee assignment arrived in the mail. I will be serving on the Policy and Admissions committee with 8 other Delegates from all reaches of North America. Five of the committee members will be Panel 57 and the remaining 4 including myself will be from Panel 58. If you wish to learn more about what the committee is about please turn to S59 of the current AA Service Manual.

AA as a whole since the Assembly has seen the AA Grapevine (GV) and AA World Services (AAWS) literature sales for the first 9 months of this year increase an average of about 8% over the same time last year. The Big Book (BB) is now available in Hebrew and the 3rd edition of the Spanish BB should be available by the time you read this and the AA Regional Directories should be ready to go out as well. In the "if you haven't been there in a while" category it would be really worth your while to revisit AA's main websites aa.org and aagrapevine.org. It's unbelievable the amount AA literature and history is literality now just at our fingertips. Being a World Wide Fellowship AA representatives have visited meetings and assemblies from Muscat, Oman to Billings, MT. One of the GSO staff said "my jetlag has jetlag". A bit of news from the General Service Office (GSO) I thought was interesting was that because of thefts at the GSO Archives the Trustees Committee has approved the installation of surveillance equipment in the Archives department. Some bad news though came from the LaVina with the departure of Hernan M., Senior Editor.

In Regional (see S64 for map) news PRAASA is approaching quickly, this year it will be held in Anchorage, AK 3/7 - 9. Eden L. PRAASA 08 Committee Chair has asked that I supply a list of those members that will be attending. With that in mind please let me know as soon as possible if you will be attending and I will start a list to be sent soon (thank you). By motion Area 92 will bid for the 2011 "Extra Regional Forum" during the PRAASA in Anchorage, AK this year. Dave M. will be putting together a committee and will have a preliminary bid ready. Please don't forget to make time for the 2008 Pacific Regional Forum to be held in Spokane August 29 - 31. Mike M. WSEA 92 Panel 54 Delegate will be heading that up, for more information check out Area 92's website at area92aa.org for this and other upcoming events.

At the time of this writing the WSEA 92 January 08 Quarterly meeting has been held and the following appointments have been set in regard to preparing for the upcoming April 08 Pre-Conference Assembly to be held in Ellensburg on 4/11 - 13. February 16th at 12:00 noon in Ritzville a group of past WSEA 92 Delegates and me will meet to select germane Conference Agenda Items important to our Area. Then on 2/23 in Spokane there will be a Conference Agenda Review Meeting which will be open to all WSEA 92 Committee Members. At this meeting the Area Committee will finalize what format the selected Conference Agenda Items will be presented at the Conference Agenda Workshops. The time and location in Spokane of this Conference Agenda Review meeting have not been set yet but I will contact all committee members when it has been. The following day 2/24 also in Spokane will be the first Conference Agenda Workshop at which the selected Conference Agenda Items will be reviewed and discussed. These workshops are meant to be informative and educational about the Conference Agenda Items they are not meant to form a group conscience for the General Service Conference.
