Delegates Report - November 2008
Fellow WSEA 92 Members,
Hello everyone, well I have to admit that I'm in a bit of a daze…in preparing to put together this NL submission I realized that I didn't go anywhere this last month. Funny thing is that it still has been very busy for me, new responsibilities at work and of course the mail from the General Service Office (GSO) keeps arriving with the most current news of our Fellowship worldwide.
As many of you may already be aware our most recent past Pacific Regional Trustee Phyllis H was chosen as the new General Manager (GM) of GSO at the November General Service Board (GSB) meeting. On behalf of Area 92 I sent a congratulatory email letting her know that there couldn't be a group prouder than the members of our Area.
Our GSO remains busy and in this last month the 20th World Service Meeting (WSM) was held in New York City (10/26-10/30) which included 59 Delegates from more than 40 countries. I am looking forward to reading the final report of the event and sharing it with you. The WSM is held every 2 years with its last location being Malahide, Ireland in 2006. Minutes from the Alcoholics Anonymous World Services (AAWS) and GSB meetings should also be arriving soon with detailed reports of current news from GSO.
The following quick financial highlights are from the GSB report sent out by our Pacific Region Trustee Madeleine P.
AAWS
Publications: Sales of literature is up 1% from this time last year.
Financial: Net sales = $9,558,157. Contributions = $4,648,600 up $115,100 from last year
Alcoholics Anonymous Grapevine (AAGV)
Grapevine: Lost $95,111 on a monthly circulation of 105,984
La Vina: Lost $56,351 and is currently looking for a new editor with the departure of Jorge C.
For a summary of GSB Trustee committee reports please ask your DCM or other Area committee member for a copy or I can send you a copy. I'll be letting the Area Committee know as soon as I get a copy of the official reports from GSO.
In Pacific Regional news the 2009 Pacific Region Alcoholics Anonymous Service Assembly's (PRAASA) website is now fully functional and is able to start processing reservations. PRAASA 2009 will be held in Oakland California and be hosted by Area 06 (California Northern Coastal). For more information please go to http://praasa.org.
Some quick financial numbers from the WSEA 92 contribution report that I just received.
Total Groups recorded: 438. Total contributions of $22,065.60 show a 2.55% increase in contributions over this time last year. Thank you all for your willingness to participate in our 7th Tradition. I know it isn't easy these days.
At the October Assembly I didn't receive as many suggestions for the theme and workshop topics for the 2010 General Service Conference (GSC) as I thought I would. If you have a good idea for the theme or topics please send them to me care of the Delegate email link on the WSEA 02 website www.area92aa.org.
I am looking forward to getting around to as many Area events and District meetings as I am able to before the January Quarterly.
Please make time to attend the Area Combined Standing Committee Quarterly in Ellensburg on 12/13. For details please see the Calendar of events on the Area website.
