Hello Friends,
Many of you are so worried about our fellows in shelters and displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Thanks so much for your prayers and offers of assistance.
At this time we are still unsure of how we can best be of service however we have made this link to the Louisiana Website and Information for the Houston Intergroup Offices which we are hoping will supply us all with some news of how best we can serve.
As far as we know there have been no plans to send any of the evacuees to the State of Washington much less to Eastern Washington as Winter approaches.
As for the Big Books, Grapevines and other AA literature. In an email sent out by GSO yesterday, it was stated that they are taking care of the needs of our members in the South. We are aware of a need for 12 X 12's and Big books to be sent to the Areas like Texas and Louisiana that have taken large groups of people and they are in the process of supplying all of those needs. We can help by sending to the right place as soon as it is determined and that may be money donations to GSO to help defray the costs of those free shipments of books and Literature. I have asked our Literature, CPC, and PI chairs to do the footwork for us to determine when and where is best.
So, if there has been efforts in your Districts to help supply and are any books and literature left over, after the needs of the Hurricane victims. Remember there will always still be a need right here in Area 92.
As soon as we have more information it will be posted.
In Love and Service, Mike M. Delegate
